Happy New Year

blogEntryTopper"Sometimes you never know the true value of a moment until it becomes a memory."

Many people mistakenly attribute this quote to Dr. Seuss. Understandable, since he has give the world a bounty of inspirational and introspective quotes, but this is not one of them.

The quote is actually from the 1919 French George Duhamel novel The Hearts Domain. The English translation varies, but the original text is:

"We do not know the true value of our moments until they have undergone the test of memory. Like the images the photographer plunges into a golden bath, our sentiments take on color; and only then, after that recoil and that trans-figuration, do we understand their real meaning and enjoy them in all their tranquil splendor."

Regardless of the author, the sentiment remains the same. I wish you a New Year filled with hope, possibilities and moments you cherish.
